The Kansas City Chiefs are set to make former Central Michigan left tackle Eric Fisher the first overall pick in the 2013 NFL draft.
The Chiefs will take Fisher with the first pick, a source with knowledge of the team’s plans told PFT’s Mike Florio.
For Fisher, tonight will culminate a rapid rise for a player who grew up in Michigan and couldn’t even get a Big Ten team to give him a shot. Even during his impressive senior season in 2012, few thought he had the makings of a top overall pick, but after a strong showing at the Senior Bowl, the Scouting Combine and in individual meetings with NFL teams, it became clear that many NFL coaches loved his toughness and potential.
And the Chiefs love Fisher enough to make him the first player called tonight.
