Bears sign 10 rookie free agents

The Chicago Bears officially have supplemented their draft class with 10 undrafted free agents.

The team has announced that the following players have agreed to terms:  LSU running back Michael Ford, Rutgers receiver Mark Harrison, Oklahoma cornerback Demontre Hurst, LSU center P.J. Lonergan, Montana State defensive tackle Zach Minter, Memphis receiver Marcus Rucker, Georgia Southern defensive tackle Brent Russell, Oklahoma punter Tress Way, and N.C. State cornerback C.J. Wilson.

Harrison (pictured) was one of the two players staying in the hotel room that reportedly was trashed at the Scouting Combine.  Regarded as a potential late-round pick, Harrison wasn’t selected.

Given that the other player staying in the room, Clemson receiver DeAndre Hopkins, was still taken in the first round, it’s unlikely that Harrison’s status was influenced by the incident.

  1. Every year there are bad teams that go to the playoffs the following year. And playoff teams watching the games at home.

The Jags certainly have a deep WR group, and a decent enough line to block. MJD is good for 4 a carry and have a C grade TE. They’ll put up more than their dismal 10 point average of ’12. If the O can move the ball, the D can stay fresh which will help. The special teams units are good w/ speed added this draft.

Colts are young w/ a good QB. Ten always battles Jax for 4th place, And the Texans have all the making expect for A level QB. Should be a good year in the division.

  2. Protect Cutler and he will WIN 11 or 12 games this season. Trestman has the right system and a winning
attitude. they need to beat greenbay.. Trestman needs to beat greenbay. NOW! or Chicago fans will turn on him

  3. Any word on the Bears draft?
Did they have any picks after Long or just speculation about an overrated overhyped linebacker?

  4. I read they also signed Iowa State WR Josh Lenz and St. Xavier QB Jimmy Coy…Overall I think this was a nice draft weekend for the Bears, but the lack of picks hurt us, especially in being able to draft a young QB to develop behind Jay…I hope they don’t regret passing on Tyler Bray.

  5. I looked up the receivers the Bears got as UDFA’s, and two of them have 4.4 speed! So even as an average receiver, one of them might make the team, and contribute on ST.
