On Friday, defensive end Lawrence Jackson spilled the beans that he would be joining the Vikings for the 2013 season.
On Monday, the Vikings confirmed that the former Lion has signed a deal with the team. They also announced that cornerback Jacob Lacey, who visited the Vikings on the same day as Jackson earlier this month, has also agreed to a contract with the team.
The Vikings added a cornerback in the first round of the draft when they selected Xavier Rhodes, but the team needed more than one new body at the position. Lacey is probably best suited to a role in the slot in Minnesota’s sub packages, although he has started plenty of games with the Colts and Lions since entering the league.
With Jared Allen, Brian Robison and Everson Griffen already in Minnesota, Jackson should also be in a sub role for the Vikings defense. The former first-round pick in Seattle should be a good fit for such a role and could earn himself a longer stay if he plays well with all three of the other ends slated for free agency after the 2013 season.
