As the Dolphins continue their push for public funding of renovations to Sun Life Stadium, another Florida team has failed in an under-the-radar effort to finagle a sales tax rebate that would have funded improvements to EverBank Field.
Matt Dixon of the Florida Times-Union has the details, which get a little convoluted. The reality is that a state senator tried to add language to a bill that would have directly helped secure funds to upgrade the Jaguars’ stadium, and he withdrew the amendment “under pressure” from Senate leaders.
A lobbyist for the Jaguars had no comment on the situation. Which is wise, since the efforts of the lobbyist to lobby the legislature to do what the Jaguars wanted has failed.
