Denver sees a Super opportunity in Miami stadium defeat

With Miami’s hopes to host a Super Bowl dealt a blow last week, there’s more talk out of Denver that a Mile High Super Bowl could be in store for the future.

Florida shot down the Dolphins’ hopes of a renovated stadium, which means that Miami probably won’t be a contender to host any Super Bowl in the next several years. That makes San Francisco the heavy favorite to get the next Super Bowl to be awarded, Super Bowl L in 2016, and Houston the favorite to land Super Bowl LI in 2017.

Mike Klis of the Denver Post writes that Denver and the Broncos have their eyes on a bid to host a Super Bowl after that. Taking Miami out of the Super Bowl hosting rotation may be just the opening that Denver needs.

Denver’s biggest hurdle will be whether the NFL is ready to award another Super Bowl to a cold weather city with an outdoor stadium after the upcoming New York Super Bowl. If things run smoothly in New York in February, Denver may be looking at its own Super Bowl five years down the road.
