Duron Carter awaits word from the Vikings

Duron

Last week, multiple reports indicated that receiver Duron Carter, the son of soon-to-be Hall of Fame receiver Cris Carter, would sign as an undrafted free agent with the Vikings.

The reports clarifying that Duron Carter would simply be invited to rookie minicamp on a tryout basis received considerably less attention, especially from Cris Carter’s current employer.

Regardless, Duron Carter spent the weekend among 34 tryout players trying to win a spot on the 90-man offseason roster. It’s not yet known whether Duron Carter will get the nod to join the team.

According to Tom Pelissero of 1500ESPN.com, former Minnesota State (Mankato) receiver Adam Thielen has said he’ll be signing with the Vikings on Monday, pending a physical. Per Pelissero, Thielen and likely one more player will be hired.

It’s possible that the other player will be Duron Carter. But it would be odd for the Vikings to sign two receivers when 34 total players from all positions tried out.

Duron Carter chose the opportunity to try out with the Vikings over an invitation to try out for the Ravens.
