While the Eagles go through the “getting to know you” phase with new coach Chip Kelly, they’re going to have to practice without perhaps their best offensive lineman.
According to Reuben Frank of CSNPhilly.com, Mathis had a minor procedure on his ankle recently, which was described as a “clean out.”
The procedure will cause the left guard to miss OTAs and minicamps, but he’s expected to be fine well before the start of training camp.
Mathis participated in a pre-draft minicamp, and in his absence, former first-rounder Danny Watkins will get more reps with the starters.
