Jaguars sign Marcus Trufant, cut Antwaun Molden

Marcus Trufant Pic

Veteran cornerback Marcus Trufant is heading to Jacksonville.

Trufant visited the Jaguars today and won’t be leaving, as the team announced that Trufant has been signed. To make room for Trufant on the roster, the Jaguars have waived veteran cornerback Antwaun Molden.

Trufant joined the Seahawks as the 11th overall pick in the 2003 NFL draft and has played his entire career in Seattle. He’s been a solid starter for most of his career, but his playing time declined significantly behind Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner in 2012 and there was no room for him with the Seahawks after Antoine Winfield was signed. In Jacksonville, however, he’ll have a familiarity with coach Gus Bradley’s system, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him start for the Jaguars.

Molden is a former third-round pick of the Texans who has bounced around the league with the Patriots and Giants and played in just three games for the Jaguars last year. He’ll likely find work as a backup somewhere.
