The 49ers won’t be at full strength for offseason OTAs, but at least in the case of All-Pro guard Mike Iupati, it doesn’t seem to be an extended absence.
According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, Iupati had a procedure on his shoulder this offseason and isn’t expected to participate in upcoming OTAs, though he’s expected to be ready for training camp.
He was listed on the injury report late in the season and in the playoffs with a shoulder injury, but started every game and played 98 percent of the team’s offensive snaps.
Recent addition Adam Snyder should be able to fill in for him in the short-term.
Iupati’s the latest in a growing line of 49ers regulars having surgery this offseason, including defensive end Justin Smith (triceps) and outside linebackers Aldon Smith (shoulder) and Clark Haggans (shoulder).
