Felix Jones visiting Patriots

Add the Patriots to the list of teams who have shown enough interest in Felix Jones to bring him in for a visit.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Patriots are hosting the running back on Wednesday and Thursday.

The 26-year-old Jones, an unrestricted free agent who spent the previous five seasons in Dallas, visited the Eagles on Tuesday and worked out for the Bengals in April.

The Patriots have the makings of solid depth at running back with Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen, Brandon Bolden, LeGarrette Blount and Leon Washington among their options at the position. However, the 5-10, 215-pound Jones has good speed and has shown some pass-catching ability on the pro level; he hauled in a career-best 48 receptions in 2010 for Dallas, with whom he has played his entire career.

In 2012, Jones rushed for 402 yards and three touchdowns on 111 attempts and caught 25 passes for 262 yards and two TDs. He gained just 3.6 yards per carry a season ago, a career-low. However, he’s rushed for 4.8 yards per attempt since entering the NFL in 2008.

  1. LOL the patriots are fiending RB’S! They have Ridley Vareen Blount Washington and now they’re taking a look at Jones. Not that it’s a bad thing because RB is the most injury prone positions so the pats wanna stack up on some running backs. My bucs face the pats week 3.. hoping Blount doesn’t play I can see him having a huge game against us D:

  2. Try to find absolutely one reason to justify this, I’ll wait…

They have way more than enough RB’s already. Vereen needs to get a lot of touches this year, he’s too talented to share the load with a million other backs.

  3. Ugggggh NO.

Jones had chance after chance after chance to be the man in the Cowboys backfield and he choked every time. A 3rd round pick came in and blew him right off the depth chart even while missing 9 games in 2 years.

Do not want. At all. Not a Patriot.

  4. With no threats at wide out,we gonna’ run, run, run, and run the ball some more.
