A new rule proposed by NCAA’s Football Rules Committee calling for players to be ejected on the spot for using their helmets to target opponents cleared an important hurdle Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, and now awaits only final approval next month before being enforced during the 2013 season. With a draft class of 11, it’s a good thing for the 49ers rookie contracts are becoming easier and easier to finish.

According to Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com, the 49ers have signed four picks, including fifth-rounder Quinton Dial, and seventh-rounders B.J. Daniels, Carter Bykowski and Marcus Cooper.

Dial has potential as a run-stopping defensive lineman, though he wasn’t a full-time starter at Alabama. Of course, when you have as many picks as the 49ers had, it allows you to take more chances than other teams.
