The Patriots have reached a contract agreement with rookie cornerback Logan Ryan, agents Jonathan Feinsod and Neil Schwartz said Thursday on Twitter.
A third-round pick, Ryan (5-11, 191) was the No. 83 overall selection. He intercepted four passes in 2012 for Rutgers. Ryan will compete with veterans Aqib Talib, Alfonzo Dennard, Kyle Arrington, Marquice Cole and Ras-I Dowling. Also, Devin McCourty can play safety and cornerback.
Eight picks after selecting Ryan, the Patriots took safety Duron Harmon, Ryan’s collegiate teammate. They also added another Rutgers defensive back, cornerback Brandon Jones, after the draft.
The Patriots have six Rutgers players on their roster. Four are defensive backs: Ryan, Harmon, Jones and McCourty.
