Jason Pinkston on field at Browns OTAs

Browns guard Jason Pinkston was putting together a strong 2012 season when he developed a blood clot in his lung six games into the season.

Pinkston was hospitalized and placed on injured reserve, ending his season and casting some doubt on whether he’d be able to pick up where he left off. Pinkston got medical clearance to begin working out in April, but wasn’t a participant at the team’s minicamp last month.

The jury’s still out on where Pinkston is after his recovery, but Pinkston is back in a position to prove he’s healthy enough to help the team. Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Pinkston has been doing all the drills during the team’s first set of OTAs this week.

Pinkston isn’t working with the first team yet. Last year’s starting right guard Shawn Lauvao is lining up at Pinkston’s old left guard spot with John Greco, who replaced Pinkston in the lineup last year, at right guard. Pinkston is playing with the twos at left guard, although one imagines that the makeup of the line is subject to change at some point between May 16 and the start of the regular season.
