Browns add ex-Eagles RB Miguel Maysonet

Yet another former Eagle has landed in Cleveland.

On Tuesday, the Browns announced they were awarded rookie running back Miguel Maysonet on waivers from Philadelphia.

In something of a surprise move, the Eagles let go of Maysonet after giving him a healthy signing bonus for an undrafted free agent. In Cleveland, he will compete with Montario Hardesty, Chris Ogbonnaya, Brandon Jackson and Dion Lewis — another ex-Eagle — for backup spots in the Browns’ backfield.

With Maysonet arriving, the Browns waived fellow rookie tailback Jamaine Cook.

Trent Richarson is the Browns’ featured back, and Hardesty, Ogbonnaya and Jackson were his backups a season. The question is, who sticks on the depth chart behind Richardson this year? The competition got a little more crowded on Tuesday.

  1. What, no commentary on how releasing Jamaine Cook could be the result of conflict in the Browns’ front office? I guess you guys save that for the Eagles articles.

  2. Considering that they cut Cook to sign Maysonet (I ain’t one yet!), the competition at the position is no more crowded than it was before they claimed him off waivers.

  3. Joe Banner, playing GM and coach…still in love with anything Philly.

Joe just doesn’t get it…Browns fans would rather stick with the players we drafted over the last 3 years…not the players Joe Banner is partial to from Philly.

Joe will never be a Cleveland Brown…never.

  4. I hope Maysonet works his way up to #2 on the depth chart. Jackson, Ogbonnaya, and Hardesty haven’t shown much.

  5. Does Skates Banner sit by his phone and wait for the Eagles to make a move then pounce? From coaches, free agents, draft picks, and now roster cuts the Browns are connected to the Eagles. Weird.

  6. Browns will be trading picks with the Eagles soon for someone from the practice squad Banner liked.

  7. The eagles have the often injured Felix Jones so they are all good. Why would they want a young, talented, and healthy RB?

Blind eagle fan will defend cutting Maysonet but it’s still stupid any way you look at it.

  8. Browns and Eagles “fans” are the perfect combination of cynical. One group is upset that the guy is gone despite the fact that he was expendable, and the other is upset that he’s there even though his likeliness of breaking the starting lineup is slim to none.

Complaining for the sake of complaining. Do you really see this guy going ahead on the depth chart in front of LeSean McCoy or Trent Richardson….REALLY?

  9. Damn it, Cleveland! The Eagles have gotten worse every year for the last 3 years. Stop picking up the players that cannot make their squad. How can they possibly make you better???
