Pierre Garçon says shoulder’s fine, not sure about foot

Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garçon spent most of last season battling a foot injury that kept him from going full speed on the field.

He doesn’t think the shoulder injury that required surgery this offseason will lead to the same kind of difficulties this time around. Garçon is expected to be fine for the start of training camp and called the surgery on his labrum “just minor.”

“The shoulder is good,” Garçon said, via Mark Maske of the Washington Post. “There shouldn’t be any worries for me for the season coming up. So it should be good to go.”

Garçon is less sure about the foot, however. Garçon opted not to have surgery during or after the season because doctors couldn’t guarantee that an operation would wind up taking care of the problems caused by the torn ligament on the bottom of his foot. While the foot is feeling better, Garçon can’t say for sure whether he’d be bothered by the injury again next season.

“You never know,” Garçon said. “We could be playing on a bad field and something happens. Or we could be playing on a good field and something happens. I can’t predict what’s going to happen or how it’s going to be. But I’m going to continue to rehab it and continue to work at it and continue to monitor it.”

Garçon is expected to be back on the field for camp and the Redskins hope that he’ll remain there throughout the season in his second year with the team.
