Source: Ravens not interested in Jamarcus Russell

The Bears may not be the only team interested in quarterback JaMarcus Russell, the first overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft.  But if another team is interested in Russell, we’re told it’s not the Ravens.

That’s contrary to reports from both Mike Garafolo of USA Today and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.  But that’s what we’re told, from a source we trust.  (As opposed to the sources that we, you know, don’t trust.)

Russell has lost 50 pounds in his quest to return to the NFL.  But interest has been tepid, at best.

If we’re wrong, the consolation will be that the Ravens’ color scheme dovetails quite nicely with one of his favorite beverages.  Allegedly.

  1. Let’s just use some simple logic here and think to ourselves why those reports were so irrelevant. Why in the hell would the Ravens pick up this guy, I mean really? Come on now, if it were true well then Ozzie Newsome and every high ranking official on the Ravens are stupid. But that’s not the case.

  2. Two stories in a row with the “you know” line. Gotta throw the flag on that. 5 yards for lazy editing.

  3. Well maybe Jeff Garcia just knows how to train and work with QBs better than the guys that get paid to do it. There’s a lot of terrible QB coaches in this league, and kudos to JR for working hard to get a chance at the very least. He must have done something right or he wouldn’t have been invited.

  4. Vince Young is one of the better quarterback on the market, as a backup or starter….. He’s a Low cost – High reward type of guy….All VY need is a fair chance to compete…. and he will show everyone that he can perform at a high level and can still be a GAME CHANGER

  5. They could be interested in a camp body. At nose tackle.

Seriously, are we going to see an article about every team stating (or, that pseudo-journalistic favorite, a “source” stating) lack of interest in Russell?

  6. JaMarcus Russell hired PR Director Zak Gilbert. Now the Bears want his as there QB and the Ravens feel compelled to say no to him.

With PR Director Zak Gilbert on the pay roll, JaMarcus Russell is no longer the biggest bust in NFL history.

    Damn you Mark Davis……

Happiest guy in America is Tony Mandarich. He’s no longer considered the biggest NFL bust. That title goes to Jamarcus Russell or Ryan Leaf.

Indeed! Russell set a new standard for horrible. And that move to draft him by the Crypt Keeper set the Raiders back about a decade.

Leaf was absolutely horrible. But at least he never played for the Raiders. So, he can at least keep his chin up about that. In prison.
