Buffalo Bills safety Jairus Byrd and Denver Broncos tackle Ryan Clady are the only two players in the league that have not signed their franchise tenders after being handed the franchise tag in March.
Both will be no-shows for their teams mandatory mini-camps this week. Clady had already said he would not be attending Broncos mini-camp this week. Now, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Byrd will be sitting out as well.
It’s important to note that neither Clady or Byrd are holding out. As neither has signed their tenders, they currently are not under contract with their respective teams. Until that changes - either via signing their tender or a new contract - Byrd will stay away from the Bills.
Byrd has until July 15 to sign a multi-year extension with the Bills. If he doesn’t sign by then, he can only sign a one-year contract with the Bills.
