Aaron Hernandez not a suspect, but questioned in homicide probe

Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has reportedly been questioned in a homicide investigation, although he is not considered a suspect.

Sports Illustrated reports that Hernandez was questioned by police investigating a possible homicide in North Attleboro, Massachusetts. The report says police talked to Hernandez on Monday and may seek to search his home as well. But the report adds that “Hernandez is not believed to be a murder suspect.”

The Sun Chronicle, a local newspaper in North Attleboro, reports that a 27-year-old Boston man’s body was found on Monday afternoon and may have been there for more than a day. That report said police found a 2013 Chevrolet Suburban registered to Enterprise car rental, and that police believe the car is connected to the homicide. The Sports Illustrated report indicates that the car was rented in Hernandez’s name.

Hernandez, his agents and his lawyer have all declined to comment publicly on the case.

  1. I think we all want to know one thing – what was Ray Lewis doing hanging out with Aaron Hernandez in North Attleboro, Massachusetts?

  3. Belichick must have had a hand in this…let the Patriot haters start ranting!

  4. Of course if this wasn’t a player on their beloved Pats, let alone Hernandez, who happens to be from Bristol, Connecticut, ESPN would be all over this story.

    _______________

As a Ravens’ fan who knows Ray Lewis didn’t murder anyone, I still find this funny.

  6. Really, idiots? Ray Lewis jokes again? What are you, nine years old? I don’t understand how that’s still funny or relevant, and don’t give me that crap about how much you care for the families-you don’t. You just like to bash winners and African-Americans who are successful. Find somewhere else to let your prejudice comments rot on a page, sully.

The “comments” will have Hernandez convicted and the Patriots found guilty of a coverup by tomorrow morning.

  8. How could he not be a suspect? A car rented in his name, a body about a mile from his home, the victim an “associate” of Hernandez. How could he not be?

    And I’m a Pats fan.

  9. This is why athletes should let drive or rent cars for their boys. Didn’t Ty Law have weed found in his truck while a family member was driving it?

  10. “Report indicates that the car was rented in Hernandez’s name” . . .

Sure sounds like a suspect to me, expect a grand jury subpoena in the near future

  11. I like how the words “not a suspect” seem to go over a lot of people’s heads here.

But Ray certainly knows who did and pled guilty to obstruction of justice.

  13. “Gronk injured…
    Hernandez questioned by police…

Yup, Tebow signing looking smarter and smarter.”

Yeah cuz signing a backup qb helps with non tight ends, unless you think Tebow is somehow converting to TE

  14. O.J. Hernandez got a lot of esplainin’ to do. Not a suspect…..yet. His car….want to search his house. Doesn’t sound good.

The Ray Lewis comments show how, petty, jealous and shallow people are.

    ================

No, just how un-funny and un-0riginal people are.

  16. I am invoking my right against self incrimination. Here is my lawyer’s card. Call him if you need me to make a statement.

  17. SI says not a suspect but the real news says otherwise. Seems like SI and PFT are in full spin mode protecting the Patriots.

Does it offend you more that someone is making fun of him because he was an accessory to murder, or the fact that he’s black? I’m pretty sure everyone that knows about his murdering ways doesn’t give 2 craps whether he is black, white, green, or purple. Quit with the racial crying bull sh** all the f*%^ing time!!!

I’m a Pats fan and never believed a word that Law told police about anything. His “cousin’s bag” indeed. I think later in his career he pulled the “Do you know who I am?” card too. I hate that one.

As for AHern, I can’t imagine him being involved with a murder in any direct way. But I’ve watched enough true crime shows to know you never say never.

  20. Remember that poor kid from Revere who was identified by the New York Post as one of the Boston bombers, and had his faced plastered acros the paper for days?

He wasn’t a Boston bomber. Rush to judgment is always a mistake.

I like how the words “not a suspect” seem to go over a lot of people’s heads here.

No one is ever a suspect, right up until they are.

It’s usually a little while before the evidence mounts and then they become one.

Not saying AH will become one or is guilty of anything at all but stating “not a suspect” now means about ZERO. It doesn’t prevent him from BECOMING a suspect.

Pro tip – don’t be renting vehicles later found at murder scenes if you don’t want to end up having to worry about if you’re “not a suspect”.

  22. Having been in the game for several years.. I can tell you with certainty that less than 10% of the time they openly say someone is a suspect, and saying they aren’t currently a suspect doesn’t mean squat. They also don’t often say they may search the home later because that is just plain stupid. That said, hope he is found to be in the clear.

  23. 4thquartermagic,

How does two tight ends having their respective problems make signing a terrible QB to compete for the backup position look smarter?

  24. “As a Ravens’ fan who knows Ray Lewis didn’t murder anyone, I still find this funny.

The victim didn’t find it funny.

Also, professionally having been around many court cases, if the cops question you in regard to a homicide, you become a “person of interest”. I suspect you will see more info about the investigation coming out in a few days. Good luck, Hernandez.

  25. Ray Lewis?!?! That man has retired and moved on. Some of you jealous, coward hillbillies need to get a life. I wish this kid the best and its sad news to hear about another young man losing his life. Some of yall really need to pray.

  26. Only 3 people know for sure if ray did it, 2 are dead. Ray had involvement, but unless he cone out and says he did it all we really have him on is murder of association. But really if your innocent you don’t trash evidence that can clear you. I doubt AHern had much to do with this, recovering from injury and all, but why rent a car and loan it out?

  28. Since this involves a Patriot……I’m sure there was a video cam in the vehicle……

  29. Wouldn’t surprise me if the Patriots produced a video tape showing he was nowhere near the scene.

One of the funniest posts I have seen in a while

  30. Oldest trick in the book.
They’ll say that you’re not a suspect “at this time” to get you talking.
I learned a long time ago that there’s no way to talk your way out of trouble, but its easy to talk your way into it.
Don’t talk, get a lawyer. Always.

  31. Seriously.. Bellicheck must have known something bad was going to happen. He brings in the biggest “High Character” guy the same time one of his start players does the ultimate wrong?

  32. First the Chechyans from Russia, then Putin, and now this. The only way to settle this is a football game. TOM TERRIFIC and those NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS vs. THE RUSSIAN RED ARMY football team. Closed Circuit Broadcast only, in sports arena’s around the globe. No beer limits and no home viewing from your couch. Now THAT would be better than the Super Bowl. I’d pay to see it. C’mon Goodell! Get with it!

Why would he have a rental car if he is at home?
    ========================

There are a lot of reasons to rent a car even if you are at home.

1). He likes to drive different cars every so often without being stuck in a lease or owning it.

2). He rented it for a friend or relative who may not have good credit.

3).He knew he or his buddies were going to commit a crime and didn’t want to use his own car.

  34. anybody who thinks Hernandez killed someone are the same dumbos who claim ray lewis is a killer.obvious one of his goons/gangsters is a killer just like rays were.but those dumb pats fans were so quick to yell murderer at ray evertime he beat the beloved pats.haha gotta love karma.now whenever the pats win I will yell:bunch of killers on that team!!!

  35. Sure Hernandez has nothing to do with it.

I mean, people have people they know show up dead near cars rented in their name all the time…..right?

  36. Attention PFT Nation: Human being dead…cue open-season for cracking jokes.

Why do I bother logging on? People should be ashamed…
