Rob Gronkowski’s surgery has concluded

Surgery on Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski’s back has concluded, a source told PFT’s Mike Florio on Tuesday.

It is believed the surgery, conducted Tuesday, was successful, the source told PFT.

At present, it’s not yet certain when Gronkowski — one of the game’s top all-around performers at his position — will again be ready to play. The Pro Bowl tight end was bothered by a forearm injury /infection late in the 2012 campaign and into this offseason before the back issue became a primary concern.

Gronkowski, 24, caught 55 passes for 790 yards and 11 touchdowns in just 11 regular-season games in 2012. Slightly more than one-in-five of his career regular-season catches have gone for touchdowns (38 TDs, 187 receptions).

  1. You should add a Gronkowski surgery ticker to place under the arrest ticker.

  2. Gron has become injury prone ever since he hooked up with bibi. unclean blood!!!

  3. I hope he comes back and continues to dominate. The guy got jobbed in the second break. PAT blocking? The only way that guy is on the PAT team is if we’re on offense and its a fake with the attempt being a pass to him where no one else can get to it.

  4. All of these injuries are karma for his cheap shot crack back block on Kyle Vanden Bosche which required neck surgery.

  5. You’re back would be messed up too if you were hopping fences and lifting up strippers and pornstars in the off season. Give the guy a break. He’s a professional.

  6. At what point do you just admit that all of your Gronk info comes straight from Rosenhaus?

  7. Can Los Angeles-based orthopedic surgeons be trusted to maintain their concentration the same week Man of Steel opened up? Mesuspects Gronk may be worse off now than prior to.

  8. Next week, Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr will conduct brain replacement surgery on the Gronk. He’s going to give him the brain of Tim Tebow. Gronk might not score as many touchdowns with the new brain, but the Pats will be happy that he won’t be dancing shirtless with porn stars as often either.

  9. Vegas has the over/under on when his next surgery will take place at 7 weeks.

Put the kid’s college fund on the under.

  10. If “Gronk” was on the Bucs or the Bills, we would not be receiving this coverage. Can we ever escape the east coast bias? Why don’t you tell us how Tim Tebow is doing.

  11. Much like the Six Million Dollar Man , Gronk has his new rebuilt Bionic Arm that will catch more TD’s and back for difficult acrobatic catches.

And based on some of the comments above who can imagine why a 24 year old single NFL Superstar would allow himself to be involved with a porn star, dance shirtless and party ???

  12. Gronk’s had his umpteenth surgery, Hernandez is a person of interest in a homicide investigation. They may have to play Tebow at TE after all.

  13. Best way to heal from back surgery is to wrestle. Is he collecting worker’s comp?

The answer is obvious: “Because he can”.

But I always ask a more pointed question in these situations: “Is that what Jerry Rice did in the off-season?”

If the poor son of a Mississippi brick mason could use his legendary off-season workouts to turn himself into a Super Bowl MVP and a 12-time All Pro and the greatest receiver ever, maybe someone like Gronk could learn a thing or two from his work ethic.

  15. another way the patriots can cheat now they have the bionic man on there team, the dude is going to made out of metal if he gets any more work done

  16. While Gronk COULD be ready for the regular season it would make more sense to put him on PUP for the first six weeks, in the hopes he’s fully healthy for the playoffs for the first time in his career.

If for some reason Hernandez gets embroiled in legal issues that plan could change. But between Ballard and Tebow the Pats have other options at HB/TE even without Hernandez and Gronk.

  17. As a ravens fan, and a fan of football in general, I have no desire to see the patriots fail. But you pats fans would do well to stop kidding yourselves and acknowledge that gronks body is breaking down, and he’s young to be having so many surgeries.. I give him 2 years in the league at most. He’s one awkward pile up from breaking his forearm AGAIN…
