Earlier this week, free agent fullback Vonta Leach said that he’d know where he’s playing “in the next two weeks.”
According to a report from Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins would like for that answer to come sooner rather than later. And they’d like for the answer to be Miami.
Beasley reports that Dolphins coach Joe Philbin wants a deal done by the end of the week, which the trusty word-a-day calendar -- it’s otorhinolaryngology on Friday, by the way -- says is fast approaching. That desire is complicated by the fact that Leach also said seven teams have expressed interest in his services, with his former team in Houston thought to be on that list as well.
Leach has visited with the Dolphins already, which should help their cause. So should the fact that they’ve shown a willingness to go out and get the players they want this offseason, which could lead them to trump other offers for Leach’s services in the coming days.
