Giants receiver Brandon Collins suspended four games

The Giants will have one less receiver for the first four games of the regular season -- if that receiver even makes the team.

Brandon Collins, who was undrafted and appeared in no games last year, has been suspended under the subtance-abuse policy. The team announced the suspension on Monday.

The suspension implies multiple violations of the substance-abuse policy, and it puts Collins on the brink of a one-year suspension for the next violation.

Collins began his college career at Texas, but he was dismissed from the team after an arrest for aggravated robbery and engaging in organized criminal activity. Collins reportedly told police at the time that he and another man had arranged a meeting with the alleged victim to buy marijuana. He previously missed the 2009 season due to academic ineligibility. Collins transferred to Southeastern Louisiana.
