Report: Impounded SUV was rented to Hernandez

Hernandez

It’s generally a bad sign for a pro athlete (or, really, anyone) when a murder case is referred to as the “other” murder case.

For Aaron Hernandez, the “other” murder case arose today, and it seems to be moving fairly quickly.

From the FOX 25 report that Hernandez is being investigated in connection with an unsolved double murder that happened in July 2012 to the Boston Globe report that Odin Lloyd may have been killed because he knew about Hernandez’s involvement in the unsolved double murder to the CNN report that police have impounded a silver SUV that is believed to have been involved in the unsolved double murder and that police believe was rented to Hernandez, Thursday was another day of non-stop, negative, troubling news for the former Patriot.

Now, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports more definitively that Hernandez indeed rented the now-impounded SUV. However, Schefter calls it a red SUV; all prior reports indicated it was silver or gray.

The speed with which Hernandez has been attached to an 11-month-old double homicide suggests that something has happened recently to help prosecutors crack a case that was cooling off considerably. Quite possibly, one of the two men who were with Hernandez and Odin Lloyd in the hours preceding his death has been apprehended -- and has been providing information not only about the Lloyd case but also about the “other” murder case that suddenly involves Hernandez.
