Conditioning is Scott Chandler’s only camp concern

Bills tight end Scott Chandler tore his ACL in Week 16 of last season, timing that made his availability for the start of training camp a risky proposition.

With camp right around the corner, the risk has pretty much evaporated from the scene. Chandler did individual work during OTAs, running routes and catching passes without suffering any setback in his rehab. That’s left him feeling confident about everything except his conditioning as the team heads into camp.

“My guess I’m not just going to go in there all the way,” Chandler said, via the team’s website. “I’m just worried about getting my lungs in shape and my legs. That’s what this next month and a half is for. It’s not vacation. It’s nothing like that. I’m going to be working just as hard as I have been and I’m going to be ready to go.”

Asuming he’s able to get his lungs up to speed in a timely fashion, the rapid recovery should serve the tight end well. Chandler was a reliable target for Ryan Fitzpatrick in the last two seasons and he’ll stand a better chance of remaining in that role with a full camp and preseason to work with Kevin Kolb and E.J. Manuel.
