Patriots running back Brandon Bolden is recovering from a sprained ankle that has prevented him from running at all this offseason.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Bolden sprained his ankle in the winter while working out on his own and didn’t run at all during any offseason work.

Bolden hopes and expects to be ready for the start of training camp on July 25.

As an undrafted rookie last year, Bolden showed flashes of potential, gaining 274 yards on 56 carries. He missed four games when he was suspended in November for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.
