The Broncos executives who were arrested for DUI are subject to the league’s personal conduct policy.

But punishment from the team seems to be coming before the league has a chance to do anything.

According to Mike Klis of the Denver Post, Broncos boss John Elway and team president Joe Ellis will meet Monday at the team’s facility — with owner Pat Bowlen on a conference call — to discuss what to do.

The report says personnel men Matt Russell and Tom Heckert “are expected to receive no less than lengthy suspensions and hefty fines.”

When Lions president Tom Lewand was arrested for DUI, he was suspended 30 days (later reduced to 21) and fined $100,000.

And from the anger expressed by Ellis previously, that might be a baseline.

The Broncos know they know have a bigger problem than one arrest would indicate, and the punishment could reflect that.
