The man who lost an eye when he was shot earlier this year, allegedly by Aaron Hernandez, will tell his story to grand jurors on Wednesday. On Tuesday, he told the Boston Globe how his life has changed in the past few weeks.
“It’s been crazy, man, but I’m pretty good at hiding,” Alexander Bradley said regarding the media attention he has received.
Bradley was in court Tuesday on a separate drunk-driving charge. The arrest came in late January, with Hernandez in the car. According to the police report, he yelled out at one point, “Trooper, I’m Aaron Hernandez; it’s OK.”
On Wednesday, it won’t be OK for Hernandez, because Bradley will be explaining to those who eventually will indict Hernandez for the murder of Odin Lloyd that Hernandez previously put a bullet into Bradley, too. But he won’t be telling his story to reporters.
“Whatever chance that I would say something, even a one-percent chance, went away when a photographer took a picture of my daughter,” Bradley said.
The effort to haul Bradley before grand jurors seems to be a little much, since the shooting of Bradley is unrelated to the Lloyd case -- and since the nature of the grand jury process, with only the prosecution presenting evidence, almost inevitably results in any indictment the D.A. wants. It could be that prosecutors are simply looking to test drive Bradley as a witness, in the event they attempt to use Bradley’s story as so-called 404(b) evidenced at trial.
