Cardinals assistant coach Freddie Kitchens has been cleared to return to practice, less than two months after he was rushed off a practice field and into emergency heart surgery.

Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said he’d ease his quarterbacks coach back in, but has been impressed by his comeback.

Freddie is doing great,” Arians said, via Mike Sando of ESPN.com. “Doctors have cleared him to come to work. It’s amazing. He hit a hurdle last week and cleared it. He really looks good, sounds good and he’s on a treadmill two or three times a day.”

Kitchens, who had surgery to repair a defect in his aorta, will benefit from the Cardinals’ practice schedule.

Most of their work will be held indoors at University of Phoenix Stadium, and Arians said he’d keep an eye on the weather when determining Kitchens’ workload.
