Niners bring back Lowell Rose

49ers

After the draft, the 49ers signed cornerback Lowell Rose, who was not selected by any team. The Niners kept him through the offseason program, cutting him on July 19.

Coincidentally, the 49ers struck a deal with the Bucs for cornerback Eric Wright on July 19.

On Monday, the 49ers backed out of the deal, citing a failed physical. Coincidentally, the Niners have brought back Lowell Rose. The team announced the transaction on Tuesday.

And so ends a strange four-day ride for the NFC champions, who may or may not have known that Wright had been arrested for suspicion of DUI on July 12. If they didn’t know, the easy way out was to deem Wright unhealthy.

And now that every team knows, no one has yet to show any interest in signing Wright as a free agent.

But the Niners did know that Wright had been suspended four games last season for Adderall. And we all knew that would spark an awkward exchange between the media and coach Jim Harbaugh regarding his comments about the Seahawks and their rash of Adderall-fueled suspensions, as chronicled by Mike Sando of ESPN.com.
