The Eagles were awarded former Cardinals running back William Powell on waivers on Wednesday, the club said.

The 25-year-old Powell carried 60 times for 217 yards and a touchdown and caught 19 passes for 132 yards for Arizona in 2012. He also returned 21 kickoffs for 507 yards (24.1 ypr).

Said Eagles GM Howie Roseman of the 5-9, 207-pound Powell, per PhiladelphiaEagles.com: “Good vision, quick, runs really hard, he can also return kickoffs ... he’s a little undersized in terms of height but he’s fun to watch because he’s getting yards after contact.”

Powell will compete for a reserve spot behind LeSean McCoy in the Eagles’ backfield. Bryce Brown, Felix Jones and Chris Polk are the other backs on the active roster, with rookie Matthew Tucker on the active / non-football injury list.

In another roster move Wednesday, the Eagles waived wide receiver Nick Miller, a fourth-year pro from Southern Utah.
