Guard Andy Levitre’s first offseason with the Titans didn’t go quite as well as planned.
Knee soreness related to a previous arthroscopic surgery kept Levitre from doing anything more than individual work with the Titans during their spring work, which was hardly the way the team wanted things to go after doling out a $10.5 million signing bonus to lure Levitre away from the Bills. Levitre maintained he’d be good to go for training camp and he’s made good on that promise.
Levitre practiced with the starters as the Titans opened up camp, although he said afterward that he still had work to do to get to 100 percent.
“It is actually nice to be able to get out there and doing a complete practice,” Levitre said, via Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean. “I am still progressing back into it -- I am not full out right now. I am trying to get back to where I want to be, but it’s going to take a little time.”
Getting Levitre to 100 percent and getting rookie Chance Warmack signed and into camp should be two of the top priorities for the Titans as getting better interior line play is a must for a team that struggled mightily in that department last year. After all, it doesn’t matter if you can outrun a cheetah if there’s no way through the line of elephants blocking your path.
