Chargers inside linebacker Jonas Mouton suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee on Thursday, Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reported today.
The injury will end Mouton’s season, Gehlken reported. Mouton was practicing as a backup in camp, the Union-Tribune said.
The 25-year-old Mouton appeared in three games as a reserve in 2012. A second-round pick out of Michigan in 2011, Mouton (6-2, 240) missed most of his rookie season with a shoulder injury.
UPDATE 8:20 p.m. EST: Chargers coach Mike McCoy provided confirmation of Mouton’s ACL tear, per the club’s official Twitter feed.
