With J.D. Walton still suffering from an ankle injury and presumed replacement Dan Koppen now lost with a torn ACL, the Broncos are getting desperate.
They’ve filled the void created by the injury to Koppen by signing free-agent Steve Vallos. The team announced the move moments ago. He’ll join the team, pending a physical.
Vallos, who entered the league in 2007 with the Seahawks, has bounced through teams over the past few years, appearing in two games last season with the Eagles and two with the Jaguars.
Look for the Broncos to scan the waiver wire and the trade market for more help. With Peyton Manning’s blind side now protected via a multi-million-dollar investment in left tackle Ryan Clady, the last thing the Broncos need is to have a center who’ll be shoved repeatedly into Peyton’s kneecaps.
At some point, it’s hard not to wonder whether former Peyton Manning teammate Jeff Saturday will come out of retirement for one more go. If he hasn’t already dropped 50-plus pounds, Matt Birk style.
