The Redskins are looking for some depth at inside linebacker in the wake of Keenan Robinson’s torn pectoral, but Joe Mays won’t be jumping into that role.

Tarik El-Bashir of CSNWashington.com reports that Mays visited with the team on Saturday and left without a contract. Mays was released by the Broncos last week, saving the team $3.5 million under the cap that they could potentially use to find a player to help them survive the absence of linebacker Von Miller in the event Miller’s appeal of his four-game suspension fails.

Mays has reportedly drawn interest from several teams since getting dumped by Denver, so the Redskins could potentially return to the picture as a landing spot if he’s unable to find the deal he’s looking for with another team. Mays spent the last three years with the Broncos, starting 21 times over his tenure. His 2012 season ended early because of a broken leg.

The Redskins will be starting London Fletcher and Perry Riley at inside linebacker with Bryan Kehl and Roddrick Muckelroy currently making up the experienced reserve options.
