Report: Dolphins WR Armon Binns suffers ACL, MCL tears

Dolphins wide receiver Armon Binns tore the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his knee on Sunday, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported this evening.

The injuries will end Binns’ season, Jackson said.

The 23-year-old Binns appeared in three games for Miami in 2012 after being claimed off waivers from Cincinnati. Binns began 2012 as a regular for the Bengals, catching 18 passes for 210 yards and a score in eight games (five starts) for Cincinnati.

Binns was to vie for one of the Dolphins’ WR depth chart spots beyond Mike Wallace, Brian Hartline and Brandon Gibson. Second-year pro Rishard Matthews, another contender for a backup role, could miss multiple weeks with a not-yet-known injury, Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reported Sunday.

Jeff Fuller and Marvin McNutt are other wideouts competing for roster spots in Miami.

  1. this sucks for binns, he was a good kid, wish the bengals would of kept onto him last year, he showed some flashes of being a decent wr in the league hopefully he recovers fully and has a good career for the dolphins or whoever he plays for

  2. Tough break for this guy. He was a big target for Tannehill to throw to. Time for Richard Marshall and McNutt to prove there worth.

  3. Did the league mandate that every team must have a season-ending injury in practice???

Ravens, Niners, Eagles, Dolphins, Saints, Broncos, it goes on…

  4. Nasty. You get undrafted, then after 2 practice squads/training camps you look like you’ve broken through to 4th WR. With a weak WR depth chart after Wallace you could even end up #2 or #3. Good luck

  5. I saw him in training camp this season, looked like he was really coming on and ready to step up. always thought he should have changed his number, 19 seems to be cursed in Miami, Armon get better soon, see you next year. Go Fins!

  6. OK, WTH is going on? These guys have barely had contact and they are falling down like flies. What’s the deal? Poor Conditioning?

  7. Really sad news. I’m going to the scrimmage tomorrow night and I was really looking forward to seeing him after reading about him all offseason. Wishing him the best and hope he comes back strong next season. The Dolphins need to eliminate 19 period. Nothing but bad tidings for that jersey number!

  8. Tell me again, how much safer the NFL is now with three padded practices a year?

Mcnutt is a monster, anyway. He was a killer @ Iowa!

    Should have kept Bess.?

Bess was no playmaker. Out with the old and in with someone that can like actually run after the catch. We’ve seen enough of Bess already.
