A year after only one of the first nine players taken in the draft agreed to include offset language in his rookie deal, six of the first nine have agreed to the term this time around.
Per a source with knowledge of the terms of the contract, Jets cornerback Dee Milliner’s deal with the Jets includes language that prevents double dipping in the event Milliner ends up being cut within the next four years.
In exchange, Milliner has received the same structure that was first crafted last year with Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill, the only guy in the top nine who agreed to offsets.
Specifically, Milliner’s contract has minimum base salaries with preseason training-camp roster bonuses in 2014 ($485,505), 2015 ($971,010), and 2016 ($1.456 million).
Milliner also receives a signing bonus of $7.588 million, with $5 million paid on August 15, $2.338 million paid on October 15, and the final $250,000 paid on March 15, 2014.
