Ingram makes impression . . . on Vilma’s face

AP

A year after Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma fought a suspension arising from a claim that he targeted quarterback Brett Favre in the 2009 NFC title game, Saints running back Mark Ingram may have put a target on Vilma’s face.

Via Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Ingram says he “busted” Vilma’s nose during practice on Monday, requiring stitches to close the wound.  Vilma was limited in practice on Tuesday.

And here’s where any and all smart-alecky non-Saints fans would say that Ingram should receive an envelope full of cash from the Saints’ offensive coaches.

The Saints have high expectations for Ingram, a former Heisman winner and 2011 first-round pick.  The physicality is a good sign for a guy who hasn’t moved the chains as much as the team would like.

  1. The saints offense is like 80% passing anyway. If were talkin about fantasy value then don’t even consider taking a RB from the saints unless its sproles

  2. The Saints are going to teach the NFL a lesson … just like they did last year.

  3. Following the tradition of Ricky Williams and Reggie Bush, Ingram will become the Dolphins best running back in 2017.

  4. Florio, you’re a real prince to give all those “smart-alecky non-Saints fans” a voice. Gotta handittoyouatlanta, dat dere is some funny.

Don’t forget about RB Lamar Smith…

  6. If Payton gets his head out of his arse and gives the kid 25 touches in one game he’ll maul a defense and break their will…..

  7. Ingram has proven he can injure his teamates but can’t do squat in a real game.

  8. Panthers fans are funny. You guys talk like your relevant. Maybe you would be if you got some help for Steve Smith. One aging WR isn’t going to amount to much success. But wait a minute, this just in, Carolina Panthers just signed another RB. Now they have 11 of them on there roster but still allow Cam to run at the goal line. Good way to get your QB hurt. Carolina Panthers = One of the dumbest franchises in Pro Sports.

I’ve often wondered why ATL fans think they have anything to say, or the right to say it, especially regarding the Saints.

The Saints have OWNED you the last decade, and even with our “worst defense ever” last year we still split with you. How did that undefeated season go for you? Oh right, you lost that to the Saints.

Perhaps if / when you actually WIN something of merit, you then can run your mouth. Until that day comes, if it ever does, you have nothing of substance to say to ANY Saints fan, at all.

Why do Falcons fans like clean bath tubs? No Ring.

Did you come up with that all by yourself? If so, give yourself a gold star.

Hey stinkybird, the last time I checked falcants 0 & SAINTS 1 in the Super Bowl, enough said loser

  12. Vilma must have only been 3 yards from the line of scrimmage because that’s about as far an Ingram can run.

  13. By October 1st; Saints fans will be griping about Roger Goodell and the Panthers fans will be talking UNC basketball. The Falcons will be taking care of business.

  15. Falcons fans, got news for you. No team in the NFC South has won the division two years in a row. So, you can count yourself out now because the Saints will be back on top. The rest of the NFL, Saints are on a mission this year and will dominate the NFL. If you have to play us, I suggest you start praying now.
