Ingram makes impression . . . on Vilma’s face

Ingram

A year after Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma fought a suspension arising from a claim that he targeted quarterback Brett Favre in the 2009 NFC title game, Saints running back Mark Ingram may have put a target on Vilma’s face.

Via Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Ingram says he “busted” Vilma’s nose during practice on Monday, requiring stitches to close the wound. Vilma was limited in practice on Tuesday.

And here’s where any and all smart-alecky non-Saints fans would say that Ingram should receive an envelope full of cash from the Saints’ offensive coaches.

The Saints have high expectations for Ingram, a former Heisman winner and 2011 first-round pick. The physicality is a good sign for a guy who hasn’t moved the chains as much as the team would like.
