It has been almost a year since Dolphins cornerback Brent Grimes has played in a game, which means he’s approaching Sunday’s preseason opener against the Cowboys a little differently than some veterans.

Playing in the Hall of Fame Game means an extra exhibition game and plenty of veterans would just as soon take the night off than put themselves on the field five times in games that don’t count. For Grimes, though, playing his first game since tearing his Achilles in Week One last year is something to savor even if he’ll just be playing a series or two before heading back to the bench.

“Yeah, it’s cool because I was out and missed all of last year,” Grimes said, via James Walker of ESPN.com. “I’ve been doing this [practice] but it’s not the same as actually going in a game. So it’s going to be fun, even though it’s going to be brief probably.”

Grimes said he’s “feeling real good,” which is good news for the Dolphins after last year’s troubles stopping the pass. Grimes and second-round pick Jamar Taylor were added to the roster in hopes of turning things around on that front, something that’s a lot more likely to happen if Grimes is 100 percent physically.
