Johnthan Banks, Mike Williams have hamstring injuries

350x-3

As training-camp injuries go, the Buccaneers could have it a lot worse. Still, it’s hardly ideal when a pair of key players have hamstring injuries.

According to Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune, cornerback Johnthan Banks missed Friday’s practice with the Buccaneers due to a hamstring injury. During Friday’s practice, receiver Mike Williams (pictured) suffered one, too.

Both are deemed to be minor, but the timetable for their return isn’t known.

“Mike will always tell you he’ll be back tomorrow [because] he’d come back today if you let him, but we’ll see,’' coach Greg Schiano said. “As for Johnathan, maybe Monday. I don’t know for sure.’'

With Eric Wright gone, the Bucs need Banks to continue to fight for the starting job across from Darrelle Revis. Williams, who recently signed a big-money extension, is entrenched as the team’s No. 2 wideout.

At least they’re not alone. The Bucs have a variety of small injuries that Schiano called “general strains of camp.”
