Eagles wide receiver Arrelious Benn sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament on Tuesday, the club said.
The injury would seem likely to end Benn’s season, considering the usual timetable to recover from such an injury.
According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the ACL tear is in Benn’s left knee. He suffered a similar injury to the same knee late in the 2010 regular season with Tampa Bay.
The Eagles acquired Benn from the Buccaneers in the offseason. He’s caught 59 passes for 862 yards and five TDs since entering the league as a second-round pick from Illinois in 2010.
The Eagles also disclosed Tuesday that they have waived wide receiver David Ball, who played for coach Chip Kelly at New Hampshire.
