The benefit of having 90-man rosters and four preseason games is that for the first one, participation is practically voluntary, and discouraged for anyone with so much as a bruise.

(Yet amazingly, the league continues to charge full fare for tickets).

In Tampa, a total of 13 Buccaneers players are getting the night off, the team announced.

Among those are cornerback Darrelle Revis, who may not play in the preseason at all, and if so, not for a few more weeks anyway. There’s no point rushing him back after his ACL, and the Bucs are taking the patient tack here.

They’re also going to be without starting guards Carl Nicks and Davin Joseph, defensive end Adrian Clayborn, tight end Luke Stocker, kicker Lawrence Tynes and seven other guys.
