The Steelers, who are in need of veteran tight end depth, have been awarded Michael Palmer on waivers from Seattle.

Palmer (6-5, 252) has appeared in 43 regular-season games, all with Atlanta, catching 21 passes for 123 yards and three TDs.

With Heath Miller and David Johnson sidelined with knee injuries and Matt Spaeth dealing with a foot injury, Palmer could be the Steelers’ most experienced healthy tight end when they host the Giants on Saturday night.,

With Palmer arriving, the Steelers waived rookie tight end John Rabe.

Earlier Thursday, the Steelers announced the signing of first-year tight end Nathan Overbay and waived tackle Mike Farrell.
