Steelers getting thin at tight end

With a pair of tight ends still on the physically unable to perform list and veteran Matt Spaeth reportedly gone 8-10 weeks with a foot sprain, the Steelers are getting thin at tight end.

Heath Miller and David Johnson have not yet been cleared to practice, leaving the team with a gaggle of inexperience like Jamie McCoy, Nathan Overbay, Michael Palmer, David Paulson, and Peter Tuitupou.

Palmer arrived recently on waivers from the Seahawks, with John Rabe in turn being dropped.

At some point, the Steelers will need to look for veterans on whom they can rely until Miller, Johnson, and/or Spaeth return.

Anthony Becht!  Get in shape!

  1. I am sure the Steelers will be watching the waiver wire for suitable replacements as the cut downs happen next week.

David Paulson. he was gonna be used just as much as Spaeth they only dig spaeth cause he can block but so can paulson and he catches erything. he is a mini HEATH but there will he no Paaaaaaul after catches. just good job cuz now get back to the huddle money

  4. @eaglesbar

You shouldn’t be talking about Lomardi Trophies, since the Eagles and their fans have no idea what one even looks like. Come back when your team has a QB that isn’t a dog serial killer!

  5. There’s no reason for their TE depth chart to look that horrible when there are guys out there like Dallas Clark, David Thomas, Kevin Boss, and Randy McMichael. I know their best seasons are behind them but they’re still much better than all the training camp fodder they have at the position right now. Clark would be a very good fit. They can run two TE sets if Miller comes back later this season and have two extra weapons.

  6. It’s funny how our opponents fans come to a Steelers post and do all of their wining and crying with their jealousy based comments! As a Steelers fan I don’t look at posts concerning other teams. Why should I? I am a fan of the best team in the N.F.L. and my only concern is the health and well being of my team! The Steelers played in 3 Superbowls in 5 years and won 2 out of the three while the Eagles watched them! When did the dirty birds last make it to the play-offs? We’ll see the Steelers win # 7 before the Eagles make the play-offs again!! LOL!!!

  7. Ozzie took care of the Ravens’ tight end problem right away. Why the Steelers are still sitting on their hands begs a question that can only be answered with another dismal season sans playoffs.
