Report: Bart Scott drawing interest, intends to pick team this week

AP

On Sunday, there was a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN that veteran tight end Dallas Clark intending to continue his NFL career and that he could have a new team within the week.

It didn’t take nearly that long as Clark was a member of the Ravens by the time the day was out. If Schefter’s batting average remains high, look for Bart Scott to be wearing a new uniform in the next few days.

Schefter reports that Scott, who was released by the Jets early in the offseason, is drawing interest from teams that can’t wait to add him to their locker room and that he intends to pick one to join this week. Scott had toe surgery just after the end of last season, which is likely part of the reason why he has remained unemployed until this point in the year.

There’s no word on which teams might be sniffing around Scott, but whoever is interested is likely looking for a player who could help their run defense on early downs because asking anything more of Scott at this point in his career isn’t going to wind up working out well.

  1. For a second there, I thought the article would show Bart Scott drawing a picture…but interest is a little to abstract to sketch out.

  2. We’ll add him to our collection of has-beens and never weres alongside Dan Connor, Aaron Curry and Keith Rivers.

You are by far the worst Giant fan I’ve ever seen comment on here. None of these guys are projected to be starters by no means.

If he’s past his prime, slow, and outta shape, the Ravens are interested.

Hey Pot it’s me Kettle. Been a while. How’s your boys Plaxico (36), Cotchery (31), Ben (31), Heath (30), Keisel (34), Taylor (33), Foote (33), Troy (32), and Clark (33)? Yanno, the collective group 30+ players on the roster? Meanwhile in titletown…Suggs (30), Leach (31), McKinnie (33) and Daryl Smith (31) are the only 4 players of value on this roster 30+. But you’re right. Old and past prime. That’s us.

  5. @rockthered, way to cherry-pick your palyers of “value”. Aren’t Canty and Huff projected starters? And what about the recent signings of Schiancoe, Stokely and D. Clark that, from what I hear, are genius pick-ups by Oz.

At least be forthcoming with all the stats if you’re going to attempt to make a factual point. Nice work.

  6. I wouldn’t take the chance. Bart is a gambling Addict. Was arrested for writing 3 checks for $50,000 to Wynn casino. Then lost money and put stop payment on checks. Bart has issues. Any smart team will stay away from him

    “Meanwhile in titletown…”

But then doesn’t list a single player from the Green Bay Packers… Strange…

It’s called being honest about one’s own team and my kind make up less than .001% of the people who blog here. If you want brutal honesty, I would have included Pay-stink-er and Herzlich but I didn’t want to offend any cancer survivors here.

  9. This is the 6th story about the Jets today.

…and still nothing on the Pats. Guess that Tebow move didn’t work out for them like they wanted it to…

The NYG Would be lucky to have Scott. He would immediately be the best player on that defense. The line is a nightmare, injuries and has beans…the linebackers, I mean wow, awful and the secondary, even funnier…good luck w/that bunch.

Please tell me otherwise, another giants fan who knows nothing about football and will discuss superbowls from years ago to defend his current team…

I can’t. Our defense is abysmal. If JPP don’t hurry back or if we can’t generate a pass rush from the others amongst Kiwanuka, Tuck and Moore, we are screwed! Our LBs are a joke. Our DBs aren’t bad but they’re only as good as our pass rush. We’re almost like GB. If we don’t put up 35 ppg. we’re in trouble. I wish this commentary was coming from one of the several Giants’ trolls who have flattered me by posting as my Bizarros but this is coming from the real JTR.

  12. @crown. Touché. Even though according to the site Clark and Stokley have not been added as of today. I did not think about Huff at all. And Shank doesn’t apply as a noteworthy player because he’s 3rd string. And Canty is situational player. But you’re right saying it wasn’t All of the Ravens vets over 30. Still doesn’t change the fact that the Steelers are just as aged if not more than Baltimore. Thanks for taking the banter in stride.

  13. @crown – bottom line is that our starting team got younger. Did Oz bring in vet depth, yes. Will they help, hope so.

Bart was past his prime 2 yrs ago. The mad backer is done in bmore.another raven defender who made a fortune playing next to or near ray Lewis
