Cardinals running back Ryan Williams has missed most of training camp with trouble in the knee he injured as a rookie in 2011.
Asked Tuesday when the third-year pro might be back, coach Bruce Arians indicated he could not offer a timetable.
“I have absolutely no idea,” Arians said, per Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic.
In a feature published in the Republic on Tuesday, Somers wrote that “there is a feeling in camp that Williams needs to quit worrying about the knee and play.”
Williams, 23, missed his entire rookie season after the knee injury, and he was limited to five games after a shoulder injury in 2012. If ever there was a time for him to return the field and show something, this is it. The coach (Ken Whisenhunt) and GM (Rod Graves) in place when he was drafted are gone. Of course, Williams needs to be healthy enough to show what he can do.
