Tight end Coby Fleener was diagnosed with a concussion following the team’s preseason opener against the Bills, an injury that seemed to call into question his availability for the near future as he needed to go through the league’s concussion protocols before being allowed to return for practices or games.

Any worries about an extended absence have gone by the wayside, however. Fleener was able to practice on Wednesday and Kevin Bowen of the Colts website passes along word from coach Chuck Pagano that the tight end is expected to be in the lineup against the Giants on Sunday.

The good news about Fleener’s health means that the Colts shouldn’t have to adjust their offense too much with Dwayne Allen out because of a foot injury. While the team has a new coordinator in Pep Hamilton this year, they aren’t likely to limit the contributions from the position that much given how productive both of the 2012 draft picks were during their rookie season.

Fleener caught two passes for 37 yards, but also lost a fumble and dropped a pass in the end zone against the Bills.
