The Colts are getting closer to getting their two-tight end offense back.

A day after Coby Fleener returned from a concussion, it appears Dwayne Allen is taking steps toward being ready for the regular season.

According to Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star, Allen is out of his walking boot, and was catching passing from the equipment staff on the sidelines.

Allen was expected to miss “a couple of weeks,” after going for a second opinion on a foot injury, so the fact he’s progressing makes it look likely that he’ll be ready for the Sept. 8 opener against the Raiders.

That’s a huge step for an offense that wants to be more power-based this year under new coordinator Pep Hamilton.
