Barkevious Mingo out of the hospital after suffering bruised lung

Browns rookie outside linebacker Barkevious Mingo is out of the hospital.

Mingo was hospitalized for two nights after suffering a bruised lung in Thursday’s preseason opener against the Lions. The team has said that Mingo was not in serious danger, but he was kept in the hospital out of an abundance of caution.

Although there’s been no official word on how long Mingo will be out of action, the expectation is that the Browns will hold him out of the last two preseason games. Mingo is expected to be ready for the regular season opener.

The Browns took the 6-foot-4, 240-pound Mingo with the sixth overall pick in the draft.

  1. He is 231 by his own admission. Playing with speed has not translated in the NFL see curry and gholston as prime examples of guys who could run by tackles in college and get stonewalled in the pros. He needs to bulk up and be a LB Not a DB

  2. Browns Fan should at least be able to take comfort in the revelation that Jabaal Sheard is absolutely killing it at the transition for 4-3 DE to 3-4 OLB.

  3. curry and gholston comparisons?? that is funny.
mingo was showcased week 1 and made the rams look silly. week 2 was sheards turn as mingo played minimal snaps. unfortunately he suffered the lung bruise.
    He WILL be a stud

  4. Mingo played ST until being hurt Never had any D snaps. Somehow was hurt on K or P teams. Does it concern me? Sure it does. Especially the staff can’t determine how it happened. Bruised lung!?!? Whoa bro that’s not normal. And yes SHEARD s gonna cause teams problems. Go Browns!!!

  5. Heal up young man, your time will come soon enough to terrorize the likes of Pig Ben, Flaccid, Ginger Rocket , etc. The Browns are going to shock the AFC North, and rest of the league this year! HERE WE GO BROWNIES!
