David Terrell declares his innocence after arrest

davidterrell

Former Bears receiver David Terrell has released a statement through his lawyer saying that he is innocent of the drug and battery charges he is currently facing.

Attorney Mark P. Sutter issued a statement saying that Terrell did nothing wrong.

"Mr. David Terrell will plead NOT GUILTY to allegations of manufacturing/delivery of cannabis and battery,” the statement said. “Mr. Terrell adamantly denies any participation whatsoever in the alleged criminal acts. There is no evidence in the record that would indicate Mr. Terrell had any possessory interest in the recovered contraband, or that he was in any way affiliated with or accountable for the acts of the other individuals that were arrested on the same charges. Mr. Terrell has faith that the criminal justice system will ultimately vindicate him.”

The No. 8 overall pick in the 2001 NFL draft, Terrell played four seasons in Chicago and one game in Denver in a mostly disappointing NFL career.
