The Steelers got a briefer glimpse of running back Le’Veon Bell than they would have hoped against the Redskins on Monday night because of a foot injury.

As a result of that injury, an MRI tube will be getting a more in-depth glimpse of Bell’s foot on Tuesday. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Bell will get an MRI to help the team come up with a fuller diagnosis of the injury.

The injury’s been described as a mid-foot sprain, which was also the preliminary word on Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins’ foot after he also left the game prematurely on Monday. Those injuries can be relatively minor, but they can also lead to the discovery of Lisfranc injuries upon further examination. Should that be the case, it might be a while before the Steelers get an extended look at what Bell can do in their offense.

Bell has also been bothered by a knee injury this summer, which has left him with just four carries in preseason action to this point. That’s not really the way the Steelers drew it up when they bumped Bell up to the top line of the depth chart, but there will be plenty of time to get things headed back in the right direction if all looks good on the MRI.
